Yes! We offer free trial classes with no strings attached. Book one here.

What should I wear to my first class?

Clean workout clothing: a t-shirt or rash guard, with shorts or compression leggings. Bring a water bottle. For striking or MMA classes, bring 7oz hybrid MMA gloves, boxing gloves or shin pads if you have them, and a mouthguard once you start sparring. Don't stress if you own none of it yet, we'll sort you out for your trial.

Do I need any prior experience to join?

The short answer is no. We invite students of all levels to train at DCA MMA. Most of our members started with zero experience.

How does your membership structure work?

Memberships are weekly direct debit with no lock-in contracts and no joining fee. Cancelling or freezing needs 7 days notice, and you can freeze for up to 3 months. FIFO pricing and family discounts are available. Full pricing is on the memberships page.

How do I sign up for a membership?

Come to a free trial class first. After that you'll get an information pack with everything you need to sign up, or you can email us at info@dcamma.com and we'll get you started.

Are there competitions or events for kids and adults?

Competing is completely optional, but if you're keen the coaches will back you all the way. Members compete in BJJ, kickboxing and MMA events through organisations like AFBJJ, ADCC and WAKO.

How do belts and progression work in BJJ for adults?

Adults progress from white belt through blue, purple and brown to black belt. As a rough guide: white 1 to 2 years, blue 2 to 3 years, purple 1 to 2 years, brown 1 to 2 years, with black belt typically 8 to 12 years of consistent training. Advancement comes down to skill development, consistency and instructor evaluation, not time served alone.

How do belts work for kids?

Kids follow their own belt system with extra colours (white, grey, yellow, orange, green) and progress faster than adults. Kids receive stripes every 3 to 6 months which add up to progress to a new belt colour.

How do I freeze or cancel my membership?

Through our online forms, with 7 days notice: freeze form or cancellation form. Email works too if you'd rather write to us.
